All the teams for Round 12 in the rebel VFLW.

Carlton has turned the prospect of a daunting rebel VFLW challenge against close rival Essendon into a match where it will start as red-hot favourite after sweeping 14 AFLW stars into the team for Sunday’s clash at Windy Hill.

Blues AFLW fans should flock to the game as some of their biggest names add an on-field hitout to the start of their pre-season campaign, They include captain Kerryn Peterson, who will play her first VFLW match in six years and Abbie McKay, who lines up for the first time since 2021.

Gab Pound and Jess Good will play their first games of the season while fellow guns Mimi Hill, Keeley Sherar, Darcy Vescio, Maddie Guerin, Gen Lawson-Tavan, Lily Goss, Brooke Vickers, Meg Robertson and Lulu Beatty have also been named alongside Irish product Dayna Finn, who makes her VFLW debut.

The Bombers made two changes, with Isabelle Porter and Krystal Russell into the team as they now face a huge challenge to stay in touch with the top two and ahead of the chasing pack for their finals position.

The VFLW finals series could, however, almost be locked away by Sunday night, with North Melbourne (fifth) and Casey Demons (sixth) to play Port Melbourne (seventh) and Collingwood (eighth) respectively.

Port Melbourne captain Olivia Barton and Lambert-Pearce medallist Jordan Mifsud will give the Borough a double boost as they return to the team for their must-win rebel VFLW clash against North Melbourne at ETU Stadium on Friday night.

The reigning premiers could find themselves a game and a half outside the top six with just two rounds to play if they can’t beat the Kangaroos, who are trying to lock in a finals berth for the first time in their history.

Barton missed last week’s 150th anniversary celebrations with an ankle injury while Mifsud has had a series of quad injuries that have reduced her to just two games for the season since crossing from Box Hill Hawks at the end of last year.

Belinda Woolcock also returns for Port, with ruck Beth Wilson to miss with an ankle injury.

North Melbourne has lost leading goalkicker Nyakoat Dojiok who has been named to play for the All-Stars in their clash with the Australia U18 team in Sunday’s talent showcase at RSEA Park.

In her place, North Melbourne will hand a debut to a familiar name and number as M. Daw appears in the #38 jumper on a Kangaroos’ team list once again.

This time it is Mary Daw, 21, the younger sister of former North big man Majak.

Daw is Category B rookie who has forced her way into the team with good performances for Point Cook Centrals in the Western Football Netball League.

Casey Demons can move 10 points clear and end the Magpies’ season with a victory but have lost ruck Lauren Jatczak to the All-Stars game, and Alexis Kasteliotis for two weeks to a hamstring. They have awarded a debut to Beaconsfield’s Kira Emery, with Steph Rummel to play her first match of the season.

The Magpies have yet another three debutants – veteran Queenslander Kristen Tyquin, Aberfeldie’s Emily Smith and Vermont teenager Lucinda Smith, while Geelong Amateur ruck Danielle Sgarbi returns for a second crack.

Box Hill Hawks have suffered a devastating hit ahead of their clash against Geelong, with West Australian recruit Jess Cox tearing her ACL in last week’s loss to Essendon.

Cox had overcome an early injury to play four games and was building towards the finals, meaning her loss will be keenly felt as the Hawks make five changes to face Geelong at Box Hill City Oval on Sunday.

Erin Woodford will play her first game of the year, Grace Matser, Jade Wise and Tess Cattle return and Beaumaris’ Ash van Rooyen makes her debut.

Cheryl de Groot, Abby Favell, Ruby Dale and Piper Dunlop are among six changes for the Cats, who lose Caitlin Reid for the season with a facial injury.

Western Bulldogs lose defender Tamsin Crook for three weeks with a facial injury ahead of their trip to meet Darebin on Saturday, with the Falcons regaining Emma Mackay and giving a debut to Casey Thunder’s Lana Fullwood but being without the injured Vic Blackwood plus unavailable pair Emily Rayment and Simone du Parquet.

Southern Saints broke their drought last week but will need to be at their best to make it two in a row against ladder-leader Williamstown, although the return of Chloe Saultry will help at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval.

The Seagulls have selected Strathmore’s Amelia Marino to make her debut in place of veteran defender Nicole Julian.

All matches in the 2024 rebel VFLW season will be live streamed free via the AFL website, AFL Live Official App and VFL App.
