All the teams for Round 13 in the rebel VFLW.
Carlton has got even stronger for its rebel VFLW clash with the Southern Saints at IKON Park on Sunday as it tries to play itself back into a virtually impossible finals berth.
The Blues had 14 AFLW-listed players in their win over Essendon last week and have named 16 to take on the Saints this week.
GWS’s inaugural best-and-fairest winner and AFLW star Jess Dal Pos will make her Blues VFLW debut in her first game at this level since she played for Darebin in 2021, while former Collingwood father-daughter Tarni Brown will also wear the monogram for the first time at State league level.
Tahlia Read and Mia Austin also return to the team, the former for the first time this season, with Emily Hurley the other inclusion as AFLW pair Gen Lawson-Tavan and Lulu Beatty step back out.
The Saints, at the other end of the scale, have lost best-and-fairest winner Winnie Laing to a quad injury and named five Coates Talent League girls to make their VFLW debut.
Dandenong Stingrays trio Indi Toledo-Glasman, the sister of Casey Demons-listed forward Ziggy, Kheely Cornwall and Zahlia Clarke will be joined Sandringham Dragons Charley Ansell-Jones and Margot Whitney.
Collingwood’s finals hopes will face a stern test when it takes on the in-form Darebin at Genis Steel Oval on Sunday for the second time this season.
The Magpies’ nominal home game is being played at the Falcons’ ground, where they Falcons stunned top-two contenders Western Bulldogs last week.
Darebin has been able to recall key defender Victoria Blackwood and forward Simone Cowley du Parquet.
Collingwood’s defence kept it alive in a gutsy win at Casey last week, but the Magpies have lost their general in Kasey Lennox for at least two weeks, although midfielder Jordan Ivey returns from being a late withdrawal.
The Bulldogs lost their spot in the top two with their shock loss to the Falcons, and they have copped a second blow out of the game with tall forward Isadora McLeay sadly ruled out of their must-win game against Casey Demons at Mission Whitten Oval on Saturday after sustaining her third ACL injury.
Mia Cowan also succumbs to a hamstring issue for two weeks, but they do have a strong replacement in former captain Mary Sandral, who breaks in for her first game of the year after returning from injury to kick six goals for Parkside before the King’s Birthday weekend, having booted 10 in a game at the start of the season.
Casey regains young ruck Lauren Jatczak off her 11-disposal, 15-hitout game for the All Stars against the AFL National Academy Girls last week, with debuts handed to Gippsland Power pair Zali Gallagher and Lilly Leighton, who hail from Sale City and Warragul Industrials respectively.
Port Melbourne has again lost Lambert-Pearce Medal-winning recruit Jordan Mifsud for its desperation stakes trip to Geelong on Saturday.
The Borough must win to keep their premiership defence alive, but Mifsud (unavailable) has been replaced by Abigail Rabot against the bottom-placed Cats, who will have three Geelong Falcons making their VFLW debuts in ruck Hayley Peck (Grovedale), South Barwon medium forward Lucy Marescuk and small utility Caitlin Charles from Geelong West, while Kiara Woods plays her second game.
North Melbourne regains star forward Nyakoat Dojiok and fellow Collingwood recruit Tricia Cowan as it aims to stake a top-two claim against Box Hill Hawks at Arden Street Oval on Saturday.
Dojiok played for the All-Stars last week as the Kangaroos sunk the Borough but she will be welcomed back against the unchanged Hawks with a win officially sealing a maiden finals berth setting up a thrilling last round chase for the double chance.
A game and percentage clear on top of the ladder, Williamstown can all but seal its first minor premiership with a win over Essendon at DSV Stadium on Saturday.
The Seagulls’ hopes have been boosted by the return of experienced defender Nicole Julian among three changes, while the Bombers regain Christina Bernardi among their three alterations to the team that fell to a star-studded Carlton last week.
All matches in the 2024 rebel VFLW season will be live streamed free via the AFL website, AFL Live Official App and VFL App.
