NORTH Melbourne forward Taylor Garner has been stood down from the senior side for at least Saturday night's clash with Collingwood in light of his alleged incident at a Sydney nightspot. 

It is alleged Garner was involved in an altercation last Saturday night at the Double Bay Hotel that left another man with a broken nose.

Roos football manager Cameron Joyce indicated Garner may receive further punishment.

"We simply will not tolerate anyone who compromises team standards and expectations," Joyce told nmfc.com.au.

"Taylor knows he made some poor choices on the weekend and we will continue to work with him to ensure he bounces back a better person.

"At this stage, he will play in the VFL this weekend."

He had only returned to the senior side a fortnight ago, collecting 16 disposals and slotting a goal in North's loss to Greater Western Sydney before the Roos' bye.

New South Wales Police is investigating the incident.

"The club's decision to penalise Taylor has been made independently of any police investigation or potential outcome," Joyce said.

"After speaking with Taylor yesterday, he unreservedly apologised and has fully accepted the club's initial stance."

Injuries have plagued Garner, restricting him to 38 games since he was drafted at No.15 in 2012.
