This is the eighth year Hawthorn has conducted its Community Camp in Tasmania. In that time, Hawthorn has visited over 50 towns and cities across the state through Community Camp, MBF Hawks Express, Tassie Hawks in Schools and other community initiatives.

While promoting Aussie Rules participation at a grass-roots level, the camp will provide a unique opportunity for local members and supporters to interact with the Club and players.

In 2010, the players will be split into five groups with two based out of Launceston and Hobart and one group in Burnie. Branching out from the three major hubs, the players will conduct activities in various towns across Tasmania over the three days.

Up North, players will hold clinics at George Town and Deloraine Football Clubs and attend a fundraising event in Launceston. They will also take part in beach activities at Bridport, visit the Ashley Youth Detention Centre and join Hawthorn community partner Down Syndrome Tasmania for a round of mini golf.

In addition to a football clinic and fundraiser at Wynyard, players will attend the Burnie Moves Recreation Expo and be involved with the George Town Council Youth Leadership program at Camp Clayton in the state’s North-West.

In the South, players will visit Triabunna and Oatlands to conduct football clinics, participate in a game of street cricket in Brighton, visit Risdon Prison with Reclink and head to the MBF Kid Fit Triathlon organised by Life Be In It in New Norfolk.

The Hawks will also hold a Tasmanian Season Launch on Thursday 4 February in Hobart which will be attended by Club President Jeff Kennett, Chief Executive Stuart Fox, Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson and Captain Sam Mitchell.
