GOLD Coast has re-signed defender Rory Thompson for two years.
The Southport product has been with the Suns since their inaugural season, and has grown into one of the game's best young defenders.
The contract will tie him to the club until at least the end of 2017.
Football manager Marcus Ashcroft announced the re-signing at Gold Coast's best and fairest awards on Friday night.
Thompson, 24, has played 65 AFL games, and alongside Steven May has formed an exciting one-two key defensive post set-up for the young Suns.
"As a Gold Coaster I am really pleased to extend my contract with the club," Thompson said.
"The club, team and the game has grown so much since I’ve been involved with the Suns, and I am looking forward to playing my role as we continue to build a strong club."
