THE GOOGLE Home device launched in Australia in July this year, and footy fans have been calling on the voice-activated speaker for AFL information.

Telstra and the AFL are also a launch partner of Google's new Conversational actions.

How Google Home works

The Google Home speaker works as a voice-activated assistant, similar to Apple's Siri.

Available from the Google web store or electronic retailers, the speaker sits in your home and is always on, listening for your commands.

To launch the conversation, it is as simple as asking the device – "OK Google, let me talk to AFL".

You can find out when some of the key off-season events are on, such as:

"When is Trade Period?"

Or:

"When is the AFL Draft?"

When the 2017 Toyota AFL Fixture launches later this month, you will be able to ask the device questions like: "When are the Bombers and Tigers playing next?" and it will respond with specific details of the clubs' next meeting.

What else?

When footy returns, you'll also be able to get the score when matches are in play.

Google Home can also answer queries such as 'Who won the Norm Smith Medal?', 'Who won the Coleman Medal?' and much more.

We will continue to build on the available responses as we learn more about how audiences are interacting with this great new piece of technology.

Google Home can also control other connected devices in your home. You can use it to play Netflix without touching a button, or play music via YouTube or Spotify.
