FREMANTLE backman Alex Pearce might only miss matches against struggling Carlton and Brisbane either side of the Dockers' bye after undergoing surgery on his broken thumb.
The Dockers are hopeful Pearce, who played the second half of Sunday's tense victory over Adelaide with the injury, will be back for the trip to face Melbourne in Darwin in round 16.
"He was tough enough to play through but, unfortunately, we had to go to surgery to get it repaired," high performance manager Jason Weber said.
"Hopefully, according to the surgeon, we can turn it around in three weeks."

The Dockers kept their slim finals hopes alive by upsetting the Crows and, at 5-7, will be searching for their first road win of 2018 against the bottom-placed Blues at Etihad Stadium this Saturday.
Freo will regain superstar skipper Nat Fyfe from suspension, while veteran ruckman Aaron Sandilands (concussion) and Taylin Duman (back) are also expected to be available.
Sandilands has missed the past two games after a heavy head knock in Freo's loss to North Melbourne while Duman tweaked his back getting out of his car at Optus Stadium on Sunday.
"Aaron's passed all his KPIs now," Weber said.
"He trained strongly with our WAFL group this morning and we anticipate him being available for match committee.
"Taylin just has a bit of disc history in his lumbar spine.
"Coming out of the car he twisted the wrong way and unfortunately, had a bit of an incident with that.
"He's been treated by the medical staff and we're confident we'll get him to a test this week."
Freo received more positive news with Sandilands' ruck protege Sean Darcy set for his first game at Peel since going down with a PCL issue in April.
Harley Bennell is listed as a test after sitting out last round of the WAFL due to calf tightness.
Meanwhile, Doig medallist Bradley Hill is edging closer to a comeback from bone bruising in his knee sustained in round two.
Hill could be ready after the Dockers' bye, but will play his first game in the WAFL due to his club-imposed suspension for an incident at a Scarborough nightspot last month.
His elder brother, Stephen (quad), is aiming to return to training this week after his latest soft-tissue problem.
Dockers coach Ross Lyon indicated after the Crows victory that young defender Griffin Logue could miss two months with a nasty ankle injury, but Freo is hopeful he will be sighted again this season.
"Griffin's got a swollen ankle at the moment," Weber said.
"It was a non-contact injury. He was blasting off and defending a marking contest and his ankle gave way under the ground.
"Medical investigations this week will give us an indication of how long that will be but he's a great trainer and a great athlete, so we anticipate him back before the end of the season."
