ESSENDON has suffered injury blows at both ends of the ground, with forward Jake Stringer set to miss a month while Patrick Ambrose's season is effectively over.
Stringer suffered a calf strain in the Bombers' loss to Collingwood on Sunday and while he played out the game, the former Western Bulldog was clearly hampered.
Ambrose hurt his right hamstring and damage was done to the tendon. He will miss more than two months.
With Essendon having a very slim chance of making finals, sitting two wins and 23.9 per cent behind eighth-placed Hawthorn, it's unlikely Ambrose will be back this year.
"Pat Ambrose has a hamstring strain and the tendon is impacted, but it will not require surgery," Bombers physical performance manager Justin Crow told essendonfc.com.au.
"Early estimations suggest this is a 10-week injury."
Meanwhile, Stringer looks set to miss matches against Gold Coast, Fremantle, Sydney and the Hawks.
"Stringer has a calf strain and the normal recovery for such an injury has him looking at four weeks on the sidelines," Crow said.
