Lance Franklin removes reference to Hawthorn on his Twitter biography
HE'S PUT off contract negotiations until season's end, but Lance Franklin has made a curious change to his Twitter account.
The superstar forward has removed his ties to Hawthorn in the biography on his account.
What used to read 'proud indigenous professional sportsman representing the Hawthorn Football Club' has been reduced to a simple link that promotes clothing company Nena And Pasadena.
The out-of-contract Hawk has attracted interest from Greater Western Sydney, with reports the expansion club has tabled an offer worth $12 million dollars.
Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson admits the club is desperate to retain Franklin, but the team has worked hard to create contingency plans.
"We have worked particularly hard over the course of the last six months to try and spread our load, not just to do with Buddy but through our midfield as well," Clarkson said on Monday.
Franklin last week admitted the Hawks were getting impatient.
"There's been a little bit of pressure and expectation from the football club, in terms of signing," Franklin said.
"But for me, I've always had that mindset of wanting to do it at the end of the season."
