WEST Coast forward Liam Ryan made a surprise return to training on Tuesday, but mystery still surrounds the details behind his recent car crash.
Ryan participated in the club's skills session at Subiaco Oval on Tuesday morning, less than 30 hours after crashing his car into a tree in the Perth suburb of Armadale.
The 21-year-old was taken to hospital after the early morning incident, but was released later that day.
Ryan showed no obvious signs of injury when he trained fully on Tuesday, but it's his mental health that the Eagles are focusing on.
The talented goalsneak is understood to be going through some personal issues, and his immediate playing future remains up in the air.
It's unknown whether he will be available for selection for Sunday's clash with GWS at Optus Stadium.

Teammate Elliot Yeo said he had no idea Ryan was going through any personal struggles.
Yeo said it was an important reminder for players - or anyone in the public - to speak out if they needed help.
"It's a good reality check," Yeo said.
"On the outside, everyone can seem fine. But deep down, they're actually quite struggling.
"It comes down to the individual showing the courage to speak up and say, 'Look, I'm struggling'.
"It's probably the toughest thing to do, to make it known. But once you come out and say that, everyone else can work around that and help you."
Yeo said he was happy to see Ryan at training.
"He's probably a little bit embarrassed about what happened. But he'll work through that, and we'll help him through it," Yeo said.
"What you see is what you get with Liam. He's a ball of fun, and it's good to have him around the club.
"I'm sure in the next couple of weeks he'll be back to his high spirits and playing pranks on everyone."
Ryan, who was selected with pick No.26 at last year's NAB AFL Draft, has played six games for West Coast this season.
But he has managed just two goals in three games since returning from a long-term ankle injury a few weeks ago.
West Coast (10-4) have slipped to third spot following three straight losses, and they will be without forward trio Josh Kennedy (leg), Jack Darling (ankle), and Mark LeCras (wrist) for at least another week.
