ESSENDON has confirmed that forward Jake Carlisle was sent to hospital after he suffered a neck injury at training.
But the Bombers insist he is still a chance to play in Friday night's game against North Melbourne.
Carlisle had the injury on Wednesday and went to hospital for scans.
"Carlisle pinched a nerve in his neck and despite suffering some discomfort he has recovered well [on Thursday]," the club said.
"The club's medical team exercised all necessary precautions to treat and determine the extent of the injury, which included sending Carlisle for scans at the Epworth Hospital."
