• Who's hanging up the boots? Keep track of 2017's retirements and delistings
WEST Coast has shut down suggestions wingman Andrew Gaff could be on the trade table.
Speculation has swirled for weeks that the Victorian, who is set to become a restricted free agent at the end of 2018, might be lured back home this off-season.
St Kilda, which has picks seven and eight in the draft, enquired about Gaff while Hawthorn has also been linked to a play for the 25-year-old.
But the Eagles' football manager Craig Vozzo ruled out Gaff being put up for trade.
"We, Andrew and his management have all been surprised with the speculation, it has no merit and it isn't something either party has or will consider," Vozzo told AFL.com.au.
Gaff's consistency at home and interstate is important for West Coast, and the hard-running left-footer is set to shoulder more responsibility in the engine room following Matt Priddis and Sam Mitchell's retirements.
He has been the Eagles' leading possession-winner in the past three seasons, was the John Worsfold medallist in 2015 and joined the leadership group this year.
Gaff, who was recruited from Oakleigh Chargers via pick No.4 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft, has played 156 games and booted 55 goals.
The Eagles have several players facing uncertain futures ahead of the upcoming trade period, with Sharrod Wellingham, Josh Hill, Tom Lamb and Fraser McInnes uncontracted beyond this year.
Meanwhile, Subiaco coach Jarrad Schofield has taken himself out of the running to become an AFL assistant coach next season.
Schofield will honour the final year of his contract at the Lions in 2018, despite interest from West Coast and several other AFL clubs.
The Eagles could be on the hunt for at least one new assistant if club great Dean Cox follows former senior assistant Justin Longmuir in departing the club's coaching ranks.
Cox has met with Geelong, while Longmuir has joined Collingwood's revamped panel under Nathan Buckley in a bid to further his senior coaching ambitions.
Sam Mitchell has joined the Eagles' coaching team after hanging up the boots, and was involved with West Coast stoppage coaching this season.
