Carlton VFLW co-captain and defender Octavia Di Donato has been signed by the West Coast Eagles as a replacement player for the 2024 NAB AFLW season.

Di Donato replaces pregnant veteran Dana Hooker, who will welcome a baby girl in December.

Hailing from Bendigo Pioneers, 20-year-old Di Donato has been playing a pivotal leadership role as Carlton’s co-captain in the VFLW.

Di Donato is renowned for her work ethic and ‘never give up’ attitude, her versatility, clean hands and high football IQ.

AFLW List Manager Jordan Loxley said Di Donato will be an excellent addition to the team.

“We’re very excited to sign Octavia to our list for the upcoming season,” Loxley said.

“A previous AFLW Academy member and current Carlton VFLW co-captain at the age of 20 gives you a good understanding of the character she is.

“Octavia has played majority of her footy this year as a general defender but can also play up the ground on the wing, with her ball use and decision making a highlight of her game.

“We have no doubt she will get the very best out of herself and will be a great addition to the list.”
