Jack Ziebell could be looming a smoky in the race for the Syd Barker Medal after yet another strong performance in Sunday's loss to the Hawks.

The strong-bodied midfielder racked up 27 possessions, kicked a goal and laid six tackles to win the top nod for his team alongside Scott McMahon from the coaches.

Ziebell has averaged almost 30 disposals a game over his past six matches after a slow start to the year.

Sam Mitchell earned maximum votes on the day, but many considered McMahon's effort down back as one of the finest of his career.

Skilful and cool under pressure, the 25 year-old was a pillar in defence, repelling countless attacks and pulling down some terrific contested marks in the torrid conditions.

McMahon finished with a career-high 29 possessions and took eight marks.

Meanwhile Matt Campbell's amazing last quarter also caught the eye of Brad Scott and Alastair Clarkson. He polled two votes for his five-goal haul.
