Phil Davis in hospital after copping accidental knock against the Swans
GREATER Western Sydney co-captain Phil Davis is still in hospital nursing a kidney injury following his side's breakthrough win over the Sydney Swans on the weekend.
Davis was admitted to hospital shortly after the game on Saturday and has had treatment for the injury, which was caused by an "accidental knock" during the first quarter of the game.
Giants football manager Graeme Allan said the 23-year-old would continue to be closely watched.
"Phil is in good care and we will continue to monitor his progress. His family is with him in Sydney and we will provide a further update when it is available," Allan said in a club statement.
Despite the hit, Davis played on to be an important contributor in the Giants' 32-point win, blanketing Swans star Lance Franklin and keeping the star recruit to one goal and minimal influence.
Last year Davis had a back injury in the middle of the season which restricted him to 13 games.
Davis, who crossed to the Giants from Adelaide at the end of 2011, has played 54 games since making his AFL debut in 2010.
