TALENTED Gold Coast forward Jarrod Garlett is set to recommit to the Suns after showing great promise in the past five senior games.
AFL.com.au understands the 20-year-old forward will extend his time at the club for a further two years, having played 15 games since being the No.15 pick in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.
Garlett has always had freakish skills and speed but he battled to cement a spot in the Suns' line-up in the first half of the season.
After taking a break in Western Australia he returned in fine form, winning his way back into the seniors in round 16 against the Brisbane Lions.
He has kicked five goals since his return, for a career total of 10, and played his best game on Saturday in the Suns' narrow loss to Greater Western Sydney, laying nine tackles and having 19 disposals.
The Suns have been very competitive since the loss to West Coast in round 10 when they were decimated by injuries.
Despite missing many of their star players, the Suns have shown strong depth to perform well against the Giants, Melbourne, Richmond and Hawthorn, and defeat St Kilda, Brisbane and Fremantle.
Along with Garlett, Gold Coast has had strong performances from youngsters Callum Ah Chee, Jack Martin, Kade Kolodjashnij and Peter Wright.
The Suns also have two first-round picks in the upcoming NAB AFL Draft.
