YOUNG North Melbourne defender Daniel Nielson has signed a one-year deal, tying him to the club until the end of 2018.
Nielson, 21, was drafted with pick No. 25 in th 2014 NAB AFL Draft.
His introduction to AFL was delayed after he required a left knee reconstruction in his debut season. Nielson played his first game against Fremantle in round 16 this year and had played every game since.
However, he will miss Saturday's clash with the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba after suffering concussion.
"It's nice to know the club want me there and sees me there in the future," Nielson told nmfc.com.au.
The young Roo was in the media spotlight after having his hair ruffled by Essendon tall Cale Hooker in round 18, after the Bomber hit the scoreboard in the final term to help put North away.
Hooker has since said it was all in good fun after some banter between the two sides, and Nielson said he was looking forward to the opportunity of facing the big Don again.
"You sort of have to just get over it. It's what's going to happen in the game and you've just got to get over it. I can't wait to get out there the next time. Hopefully I can play on him again and give it another crack," Nielson said.
