NORTH Melbourne forward Taylor Garner is facing up to six weeks on the sidelines after scans revealed he injured his left hamstring tendon against Hawthorn last Friday night.

North football director Geoff Walsh told NMFC.com.au it was disappointing Garner, the Roos' first pick in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft, would be sidelined for so long after breaking into the Roos' team for the Hawks clash.

"Taylor's injury is more to his hamstring tendon rather than the hamstring muscle," Walsh said on Tuesday.

"That means that the treatment will be a little different, but in terms of the time away from the game, we expect that he'll be able to resume full training within four weeks.

"He'll begin a specific rehab program designed for this type of injury in gradual steps from now until then, but because the tendon is involved it will take a little longer than normal."

Garner played two games last year, making his debut as the Roos' substitute against Adelaide in round 20 before playing in their round 23 win against Collingwood.
