THE FUTURE of St Kilda small forward Ahmed Saad is unclear, with the club yet to offer the rookie a new contract for next season.
The 25-year-old was not one of the Saints' four delistings earlier this week but AFL.com.au understands the club has yet to put forward a new deal to him.
St Kilda is likely to wait and see how its trade and free agency period pans out before making a decision on Saad's future.
It has been a tumultuous few years for Saad, but it is believed he would be open to pursuing a career at a rival club if his deal is not renewed at the Saints.
Saad burst onto the scene for the Saints in his debut season in 2012, kicking 28 goals from 16 games having been recruited as a mature-aged player from the VFL.

He played 13 games the following season before being handed an 18-month anti-doping ban for taking a substance that was banned on game day.
Having served his penalty the Saints re-selected him as a rookie at the end of last year and he restarted his career at the club by being elevated to the senior list and playing the first four senior games of this season.
However, the emergence of fellow rookie small forward Jack Sinclair made the fight for opportunities tougher, and Saad spent the rest of the season in the VFL playing for the Sandringham Zebras.
The Saints this week delisted Arryn Siposs, Tom Simpkin, Spencer White and Daniel Markworth.
They are one of the clubs pursuing Essendon key defender Jake Carlisle, who has walked out on the Bombers, and are also the destination of choice for Collingwood midfielder Nathan Freeman.
Freeman, who did not play a game for the Magpies in two years at the club, informed Collingwood this week he wanted to be traded to St Kilda.
