He holds the Club’s all-time games record with 333 matches, is a former Captain, Coach, Brownlow Medallist and nine-time Best & Fairest winner, was named Captain of Fitzroy’s Team of the Century and only last year officially earned Legend status from the AFL.
Now, courtesy of the support from the long-standing Lion Hunters coterie group, Murray will be the guest of honour at every Lions match-day function in Victoria as part of his very own Hyundai Kevin Murray Club.
The Lions Legend is delighted to be part of this new Victorian venture and is enjoying mixing with guests so far during the 2011 AFL season.
“It is a tremendous honour to have this club named after me,” Murray said.
“I’ve very much enjoyed attending the Victorian Chairman’s Circle and Lion Hunter functions over the years and hope that this new event can bring everyone together to enjoy a good day out at the footy.”
“Fitzroy and the Brisbane Lions have been very good to me over my career and I owe a lot of what I’ve been able to achieve to my team-mates. So I’m hoping to bring some of our other past players along to share in the functions as well.”
Murray has already been joined by former team-mates Eddie Goodger and Bill Stephen as well as injured Lions Jamie Charman and Jonathan Brown.
The Hyundai Kevin Murray Club replaces the previous Chairman’s Circle event as the premier Lions match-day function in Victoria.
The format has changed significantly, with a greater focus on promoting a more family friendly football environment where fans can interact with each other - and a host of special guests - in the comfort of their own private function room.
Rather than a sit-down formal event, the Hyundai Kevin Murray Club is a cocktail style function designed to enhance your match-day experience in Melbourne by making it more entertaining, inclusive and affordable.
All functions include premium reserved seating, a pre-match briefing from a Lions Assistant Coach and other entertaining speakers.
The Hyundai Kevin Murray Club will also include a premium pre-game, half-time and post-match beverage package at all matches played at Etihad Stadium while functions held at MCG games will include finger food with cash bar access.
The cost of a daily ticket is $140 per person for adults while children under the age of 18 are also welcome to attend the function at the reduced rate of $75.
The Club hopes that this more affordable price-tag encourages more people to be part of our match-day function to generate a more spirited football atmosphere.
