EQUALISATION has dominated day one of the AFL club CEO's two-day meeting at Creswick in central Victoria.

Meetings between the club chiefs and League executive, led by AFL deputy CEO Gillon McLachlan, finished at 5pm after a lengthy debate on measures that need to be taken to shrink the gap between rich and poor clubs.

AFL boss Andrew Demetriou, who returned from the US on Wednesday morning, did not attend the first day of the conference.

AFL.com.au also understands Essendon acting CEO Ray Gunston did not make the trip to Creswick, with the Bombers' ongoing supplements saga not on Wednesday's agenda.

Club CEOs Trevor Nisbett, Brendon Gale and Keith Thomas presented to the group on what was learned during last week's fact-finding mission in the US.

Laws of the game, including the proposed charter on the laws of the game, were also discussed on Wednesday.

Club CEOs were due to hear presentations from Virgin Australia CEO John Borghetti and carsales.com.au executive Greg Roebuck on digital media.

It is understood Melbourne's assistance package has not been discussed at Creswick.

The agenda for day two is short, with e-commerce among the topics set for discussion.
