The exhibition match, confirmed today, will be played under lights at TIO Stadium on Saturday February 7.
It will be the Crows’ first official hit-out of their 2009 campaign, which starts next Thursday (November 13) when the squad gathers for the first pre-season session.
The Adelaide Football Club is pleased to be involved and will use the game as part of its preparation for 2009.
Crows senior coach Neil Craig said: “These games have always been of a high standard and will fit in to our program very well. Darwin has a high number of Crows supporters and it will give us an opportunity to play in front of them. We are looking forward to the game.”
Tony Frawley, Chief Executive Officer AFLNT said: “AFLNT is absolutely delighted that we have been able to attract the Adelaide Crows to Darwin to play the Indigenous All-Stars. The Indigenous All-Stars match is a historic part of Northern Territory football and has been extremely well supported by the Territory in the past. Fourteen thousand people saw the last Indigenous All-Stars match when they played the Essendon Bombers in 2007. That match created history as it was the first time an AFL Club has beaten the Indigenous All-Stars team.”
The All-Stars team is expected to feature a number of current AFL Indigenous players.
