WEST Coast has elevated rookie Murray Newman to its senior list after placing key defender Mitch Brown on the long-term injury list.
The Eagles stuck by Newman last season while he served a six-month jail term for a grievous bodily harm charge stemming from an incident in November 2012.
He was delisted but reselected in the rookie draft and trained magnificently over the summer.
Newman was a chance to be elevated earlier in the season following the long-term injuries to both Brown and Eric Mackenzie.
But after some excellent early season form for East Perth in the WAFL he suffered a finger tendon injury in round three that kept him out for eight weeks.
Newman has played the last five matches in the WAFL.
He gathered 19 disposals and took eight marks last weekend in the win over Perth.
He's averaged 14 disposals and kicked 12 goals in nine games in the WAFL, playing predominately as a small forward.
The 21-year-old was the Eagles' first round draft pick in the 2011 NAB AFL draft. He played four matches in his first season in 2012 but has not played since.
Newman was named on the Eagle's extended bench for Sunday's game against the Swans.
