AFL Commission Chairman Richard Goyder tonight congratulated retiring Melbourne FC President Kate Roffey for her 12-year year contribution to the Demons.

Roffey announced today she was stepping down as club President, having held the role of President since 2021, after initially joining the club as a Director in 2013.

Mr Goyder paid tribute to Roffey's leadership of the Melbourne Board which had seen the club win its first AFL Premiership in 54 years as well as winning the club's first AFLW premiership in 2022 after being one of the original supporters of an AFLW competition.

"Kate has always been a passionate advocate for Melbourne and its AFL and AFLW programs and has led the club to premierships for both teams while guiding the Demons through an era of strong financial growth and record membership. On behalf of the AFL Commission, I want to thank Kate for her years of service to the Melbourne Football Club and to the game and wish her well," Mr Goyder said.

Mr Goyder also welcomed incoming president and former Melbourne player Brad Green, and said the AFL looked forward to working with Green and CEO Gary Pert in the future.
