FREMANTLE has moved to re-sign star utility Nat Fyfe, but the 22-year-old has told the Dockers he wants to put talks on hold so he can concentrate on the start of the 2014 season.

However, the Dockers re-signed burly utility Clancee Pearce to the end of 2016 on Wednesday and are also set to re-sign a key member of last year's Grand Final team.

AFL.com.au understands Fremantle has put a preliminary offer to Fyfe, who is set to come out of contract at the end of this season.

However, the 22-year-old has told the Dockers he wants to put talks on hold.

Although it is unclear when Fyfe will be ready to resume talks with Freo, it is understood the reigning best and fairest winner has no desire to delay negotiations until the end of the season.

The 190cm utility has played just 72 games but is already one of the most exciting players in the competition, equalling capable of tearing games apart in the midfield or as a marking forward.

The Dockers' negotiations with fellow out-of-contract player Matt de Boer are further advanced.

AFL.com.au understands Freo is negotiating a two-year contract extension with defender de Boer, 23, but these talks could extend into the home and away season.

Other key Dockers coming out of contract this year include free agents David Mundy and Garrick Ibbotson, and small forward Hayden Ballantyne.

De Boer got his AFL start on Freo's rookie list and has now played 101 games, including every game last year.
