The AFL in partnership with the Victorian Government is pleased to announce the 2024 Toyota AFL Grand Final Parade will take to the streets once again, with the traditional Toyota HiLux vehicles driving a more fan friendly route this year.

Held on Friday, 27 September and with over a quarter of a million people from across the country and overseas expected, the new fan friendly route will bypass public roads and provide more fan viewing opportunities.

Melbourne Park Oval will be one of the prime spots for families and fans to watch the Toyota AFL Grand Final Parade, with pre-parade entertainment starting at 9.00am including Sherrin giveaways, food and beverage offerings, live music and AFL legends in attendance, before the Parade starts on the Melbourne Park Oval stage with a big screen to catch every minute of it.

The 2024 Toyota AFL Grand Final Parade will commence at approximately 10.30am AEST, and will be broadcast exclusively on Fox Footy.

The parade route will then progress through Melbourne Park Precinct to Birrarung Marr, over the walk bridge and into the MCG Yarra Park Precinct, finishing at the AFL’s free Footy Festival.

The Grand Final teams and 2024 AFL Premiership Cup will be presented on the Footy Festival main stage at approximately midday.

AFL CEO Andrew Dillon said the parade is a staple of the Grand Final week and a must watch for all footy fans.

“Each year we are looking to deliver a more fan and family friendly event and create better viewing opportunities for Parade goers who are enjoying the Grand Final week festivities and the public holiday in Victoria.

“The new route through Melbourne Park Precinct, Birrarung Marr into the Footy Festival creates more viewing opportunities and allows more people to cheer on their favourite players as the Toyota HiLux vehicles go past.”

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos said:

“The AFL Grand Final Parade will be bigger and better than ever in 2024, allowing unmatched access to players and coaches in the centre of Melbourne Park, Victoria’s iconic sporting precinct.”

‘I’m looking forward to seeing families come together in the heart of Melbourne to celebrate everything that makes the AFL Grand Final such an important event for our state.”

Toyota Australia Chief Marketing Officer, Vin Naidoo, said he is excited to see the iconic Toyota HiLux vehicles in the parade alongside the heroes of the game.

“The 2024 Toyota AFL Grand Final Parade is the moment for fans to get that Finals Feeling and immerse themselves in the Finals Footy spirit as the anticipation builds for the big game.

“Many Australians have a strong bond with the AFL and with the Toyota HiLux. It will be incredible to once again witness footy fans roaring with pride as their AFL heroes cruise towards the MCG in these trusted vehicles on such a special day for the AFL and the wider football community."

Melbourne Park Oval provides an accessible and family friendly opportunity for fans to watch the Parade and is the best spot to see the players, with easy access to Richmond Train Station and Public Transport systems to get to and from the Parade.

Other key spots to watch the 2024 Toyota AFL Grand Final Parade include a second live site in Birrarung Marr with a big screen, activations and food and beverage offerings providing ample viewing opportunities for fans to cheer the Grand Final teams, head coaches, Premiership Cup and Premiership Cup Ambassador, NAB AFL Auskickers and the Grand Final umpires as they go past in the Toyota HiLux vehicles.

Thanks to the City of Melbourne, the Big Sherrin inflatable will be at Birrarung Marr during Grand Final week, a prime spot for selfies and to catch the Toyota AFL Grand Final Parade.

Announced last week, the 2024 AFL Footy Festival will return to Yarra Park precinct for four days of fun – running from Wednesday September 25 – Saturday September 28, highlighted by the new Schweppes Ice Rink.

The Footy Festival Live Site is packed with free entertainment for the whole family, including player appearances, giveaways, music and some of Melbourne's best food trucks and bars.
