The panel said Gray was running with the flight of the ball as Myers comes from the opposite direction. As Gray completed the mark, Myers slowed his pace and put his arms in front of him to brace for oncoming contact. The Essendon player then makes high contact to his opponent. After talking to the umpire who laid the report,viewing all available footage and receiving a medical report from the Port Adelaide Football Club, it was the view of the panel that Myers' action was not a striking motion and that the 50 metre penalty paid on the day was the appropriate penalty. No further action was taken.
Contact between the GWS Giants' Sam Reid and the Western Bulldogs' Tom Liberatore from the second quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. Liberatore is chasing GWS player Curtly Hampton when Reid comes in to shepherd for his team mate. Reid delivers a legitimate shoulder to shoulder bump and there is a resulting clash of heads in the contact. A head clash, under the MRP guidelines, is deemed to be circumstances outside the control of the player which could not be reasonably foreseen. No further action was taken.
Contact between the GWS Giants' Jeremy Cameron and the Western Bulldogs' Jason Johannisen from the third quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. The ball was loose in front of Johannisen as Cameron was coming to the contest from an angle. As the player came together, Cameron had his arms down in front of him in a bid to win the ball and makes forceful contact to Johannisen's shoulder, while there is also a head clash. After viewing all available footage, it was the view of the panel that Cameron did not a realistic alternative way to contest the ball. No further action was taken.
Contact between the Brisbane Lions' Jonathan Brown and the Gold Coast Suns' David Swallow from the first quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. Swallow is pursuing the ball with Brisbane's Rohan Bewick as Brown comes across to the contest. Swallow fumbles the ball as Brown comes in to tackle, with Swallow falling into the contest as he tries to take possession of the ball. It was the view of the panel that Brown's action was a legitimate attempt to tackle and was not a striking motion. No further action was taken.
Contact between Hawthorn's Sam Mitchell and the Geelong Cats' Joel Corey from the fourth quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. Mitchell has the ball and is tackled by Corey, pinning his arm. Corey drags Mitchell to the ground and the Hawthorn player lands on his Geelong opponent. It was the view of the panel that Mitchell's actions were not reportable. No further action was taken.
