GOLD Coast hard man Campbell Brown will not play again this season after unsuccessfully challenging his misconduct charge at the Tribunal on Tuesday night.

The veteran was charged with a level three misconduct offence for making contact to the face of Melbourne midfielder James Strauss with his boot.

The incident drew 325 demerit points, but Brown's bad record and carryover points increased the penalty to 473.75 points, meaning he will also miss the Suns' round one match next season.

The former Hawk has been in strong form this season and is determined to earn a new contract and play on in 2014.

Brown insisted he accidentally kicked Strauss in the face during the fourth quarter of Gold Coast's win over the Demons in round 20.

However, the jury of Emmett Dunne, Wayne Henwood and Wayne Schimmelbusch disagreed, taking six minutes to uphold the charge.

"I'm disappointed but I respect the Tribunal's decision," Brown said.

"I didn't intentionally make contact to his face."

The incident, which left Strauss with a broken nose, was assessed as reckless conduct, medium impact and high contact.

Strauss was treated for a 20mm laceration, which required four stiches.

Brown, who appeared in person on Tuesday night, said he was performing a gymnastics maneuver designed to help him get back on his feet as quickly as possible.

He said Gold Coast players had been taught the move by fitness staff during the past two pre-seasons.

"It's merely a technique we've been using," he told the Tribunal.

"I would never make contact to someone's face with my boot.

"I'm pretty devastated to be reported for this. It's a blight on my character.

"I've been reported a few times, but my history would suggest that's not something I would do."

Brown has a bad record of six matches suspended within the last two years, which increased the penalty by 40 per cent.

He also had 18.75 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months.
