COATES TALENT LEAGUE GIRLS GRAND FINAL
The 2024 Coates Talent League Girls Grand Final between the Oakleigh Chargers and Eastern Ranges is a rematch of the 2023 decider, which the Chargers won by seven points.
The Oakleigh Chargers finished the 2024 home and away season atop the ladder with a 13-1 record and advanced to the premiership decider with impressive finals wins over the Sandringham Dragons and Dandenong Stingrays.
The Eastern Ranges progressed to the Grand Final after finishing third on the ladder with a 10-4 record. They defeated the Northern Knights by 11 points in the quarter final before beating the Geelong Falcons by 20 points in the preliminary final.
The Oakleigh Chargers will be looking to create history as the first team to win back-to-back Coates Talent League Girls premierships, with victory to hand the club its third flag in four years following triumphs in 2023 and 2021.
The Eastern Ranges are vying for their first Coates Talent League Girls premiership in their second Grand Final appearance.
COATES TALENT LEAGUE BOYS GRAND FINAL
The 2024 Coates Talent League Boys Grand Final will be played between the Sandringham Dragons and GWV Rebels.
The Dragons will be chasing a third-consecutive premiership after winning last year’s Grand Final against the Eastern Ranges by 43 points and downing the Dandenong Stingrays by the identical margin in 2022.
The Northern Knights hold the record for the most consecutive premierships with four, which they achieved between 1993 to 1996.
A win to Sandringham on Saturday would give them a record-equalling sixth Coates Talent League Boys premiership, joining the Calder Cannons.
The Dragons finished the 2024 home and away season in fourth place on the ladder with a 10-5 record. They advanced to the Grand Final with big wins over the Western Jets in Wildcard Round, Calder Cannons in the quarter final and Dandenong Stingrays in the preliminary final.
GWV Rebels will be competing in just their second Coates Talent League Boys Grand Final and first since 1997, when a six-goal haul to Adam Goodes saw them defeat the Dandenong Stingrays by 35 points when competing as the North Ballarat Rebels.
The Rebels have made a meteoric rise to reach the 2024 premiership decider after an 11th-place finish on the ladder with five wins and 10 losses in the home and away season.
They defeated the Tasmania Devils by two points in Wildcard Round before upsetting first-placed Geelong Falcons by 13 points in the quarter final.
The Rebels advanced to the premiership decider with a thrilling four-point win over the Oakleigh Chargers at RSEA Park in the preliminary final, coming from 22 points behind late in the third term.

ABOUT THE 2024 COATES TALENT LEAGUE SEASON
The 2024 Coates Talent League season again featured 12 teams from Victoria and one from Tasmania for the full season.
Academy programs from New South Wales (GWS GIANTS and Sydney Swans), Queensland (Gold Coast SUNS and Brisbane Lions) and Northern Territory (NT Academy) competed in a selection of games early in the season ahead of the Marsh AFL National Championships.
Only teams from Victoria and Tasmania featured in the finals series.
Finalists competed in two conferences during the quarter finals. One conference featured metropolitan teams, while the other conference featured country teams and the Tasmania Devils.
Teams were ranked within their conference based on ladder positions at the end of the home and away season. Rankings for the boys competition also took into account Wildcard Round results.
The two conferences competed against each other during last weekend’s preliminary finals, where the two winners advanced through to the Grand Final
