ADELAIDE hasn't ruled out forward Josh Jenkins for Saturday night's top of the table Showdown with Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.

Jenkins bruised his ribs in a heavy collision early in the Crows' win against Hawthorn at the MCG last Saturday and was taken to hospital.

“Josh is quite sore, but thankfully (has been) cleared of any structural or internal damage,” Adelaide's general manager of high performance Matt Hass told afc.com.au

“He’ll train later in the week.

"We’ll fitness test him and assess his availability for the Port match.”

Jenkins, 28, booted 148 goals in the past three seasons and was the second-leading goal-kicker for the Crows last year behind champion goal-sneak Eddie Betts.

Injury-plagued midfielder Brad Crouch will play his first game of the year in the opening round of the SANFL this weekend.

Crouch injured his hamstring for the third time during training in January.

However, veteran on-baller Scott Thompson is in doubt with a groin injury sustained in an SANFL trial last Friday night.

“Scott received a heavy knee to the groin. He’s fairly sore early this week,” Hass said.

“We’ll need to fitness test him and assess him for his availability in round one of the SANFL.”
