On presentation of your current AFL Membership card, AFL Members will receive discounted entry into the National Sports Museum on non-MCG event days.
The National Sports Museum, located at the iconic MCG, features more than 2500 sporting artefacts and extensive multimedia displays. Showcasing the great moments in Australia’s sporting history, the museum includes a number of permanent and temporary exhibitions focused on Australian football, boxing, basketball, cricket, cycling, Olympic and Paralympic Games, soccer, tennis, rugby union and rugby league. Also featured is the MCG story and an extensive interactive environment for kids of all ages. More than just a museum, it captures the spirit of Australian sporting life and relives the moments that have shaped Australia’s rich sporting traditions and cultural heritage.
Australia’s Game is a dedicated Australian football gallery and the history of our only indigenous game. Each of the 16 AFL Clubs is featured within the Club Room; James Hird comes face-to-face with the audience in 3D in James Hird ‘Off the Bench’ and the Australian Football Hall of Fame now calls the National Sports Museum home.
The museum is open daily from 10am – 5pm and is located at Gate 3 of the MCG. Opening times may vary when events are being held at the MCG.
Please note: The museum will close on Christmas Day. Throughout the Boxing Day Test, admission to the museum will also require a ticket to that day’s play.
The interactive gallery, Game On, will close for extension on January 04, 2009 and will reopen on March 30, 2009.
