GEELONG forward Rhys Stanley has been cleared of serious damage to his right foot and remains in contention for Saturday's clash with Greater Western Sydney.
Stanley suffered a mid-foot sprain in the final quarter of the Cats' 19-point loss to Carlton on Sunday.
Scans on Monday cleared the big man of any structural damage and his availability for the game against the Giants will be assessed later in the week.
The diagnosis is a major relief for Stanley who missed the second half of 2015 after it was determined he needed surgery to repair ligament damage in his right foot.
The 25-year-old began running in October to prepare himself for the season ahead, and made his return to Geelong's lineup in the NAB Challenge.
Stanley and recruit Zac Smith have been key factors in Geelong's improved form in 2016, with the pair providing the Cats an instant boost in their ruck department.
