Dale Thomas’ knee injury is not severe and he is considered a chance to play against Sydney this week.

Thomas landed awkwardly in a marking contest during the third quarter of the Magpies’ 31-point victory over Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium last Friday night and left the ground for treatment, before returning to play some of the last quarter.

Collingwood chief of football Geoff Walsh explained the situation to collingwoodfc.com.au.

“Scans over the weekend revealed no structural damage to Dale’s left knee, however he has some bruising and swelling behind the knee,” Walsh said.

“Dale will be monitored throughout the week but we haven’t ruled him out of selection for the Sydney game.”

The Magpies take on Sydney this Saturday night at Telstra Dome in a game that has huge top eight ramifications for both clubs.
