ESSENDON youngster Kobe Mutch will miss next week's AFLX tournament and the entire JLT Community Series after undergoing surgery on his knee.
The 19-year-old was experiencing pain in his knee and the club decided surgery was the best course of action.
He is expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks.
"Kobe was suffering knee pain and it got to the point where it was affecting his training," high performance manager Justin Crow said.
"He went for an arthroscope yesterday and he will be looking to return to play in between five to six weeks."
Mutch was taken with pick No.42 in the 2016 NAB AFL Draft and finished second in the club's VFL best and fairest in his debut year.
