The Sydney Swans announced on Wednesday the appointment of Lynn Ralph to its Board of Directors.Ms Ralph will replace long serving director John Gerahty, who advised the Board some months ago of his intention to retire prior to the start of the 2007 season.Ms Ralph, a long time member of the Swans and resident of Sydney, has a background in commerce, financial services, management of the not-for-profit sector, and AFL administration.Over the past 25 years she has worked for a number of major investment management groups, been General Manager of the Sydney Dance Company, been Deputy Chairman of the Australian Securities Commission (now ASIC), and was the inaugural Chief Executive Office of the Investment & Financial Services Association (IFSA).In August 2002 she co founded Cameron Ralph Pty Ltd, a firm that assists boards to improve their effectiveness and corporate governance.She is currently Chairman of the AMP Foundation, a Director of Babcock & Brown Direct Investment Fund, and a Director of the Sydney Institute.Significantly, she was also a foundation Commissioner of the AFL (NSW/ACT) Commission from 1998 to 2004.Sydney Swans Chairman Richard Colless said:“On behalf of everyone associated with our Club I want to acknowledge the enormous contribution John Gerahty has made to our Club. Replacing someone of his experience and expertise was always going to be extremely difficult.The Board believes Lynn Ralph can add materially to the Board’s strategic focus and we are delighted to welcome her to the Swans.”
