Despite significant offers from West Australian clubs Fremantle and West Coast, the Cats defender has agreed to terms with the club that drafted him.
Geelong CEO Brian Cook said the Cats were now just awaiting Taylor's signature, after agreeing to terms on a deal around the three to four year mark.
"All parties have agreed, but we just haven't got the signature yet," Cook told SEN Radio on Saturday.
The soon-to-be 27-year-old is on leave from the club and Cook said the contract would be signed off on when he returns in the next week or so.
"He'll be back in 10 days time and I think it'll all be done by then," Cook said.
"We believe he's ours and it's only a matter of a couple of days now."
Asked to give some details on the length of the new deal, Cook was tight lipped but said it was around the three to four-year mark.
"It's a long time. It'll see him out," Cook said.
Taylor's imminent signing is a huge coup for the Cats, after the 2010 All Australian defender had expressed interest in returning home to his native Western Australia.
The pull of family was believed to be the reason for Taylor – ranked 42nd overall in the official AFL Player Ratings – to mull over his options, before he and Geelong finally reached the agreement.
