WESTERN Bulldogs forward Billy Gowers has capped an impressive debut season by re-signing with the Dogs for a further two years.
Recruited as a rookie after a season out of the AFL system, Gowers booted 26 majors to lead the Bulldogs' goalkicking.
As flagged by AFL.com.au, the extension will ensure the 22-year-old will be promoted to the senior list in the upcoming off-season.
"I love being at the club, so I was stoked to sign for another two years," Gowers told westernbulldogs.com.au.
"To notch up as many games as I did in my first year at the Bulldogs has been awesome, and everyone at the club has been great to me.
"I'm really looking forward to the next phase of my career."
After two years on Carlton's rookie list in 2016-17, Gowers was delisted before heading to Footscray's VFL side.
Following the lead of Mitch Hannan (Melbourne) and Ben Long (St Kilda) from 2016, Gowers earnt his spot on an AFL list and made an immediate impact.
His recommitment follows Roarke Smith and Dale Morris' signatures last week with Tory Dickson expected to follow.
The Dogs are also working on deals for Lin Jong and Brad Lynch, while Tom Campbell and Mitch Honeychurch remain out of contract.
Kieran Collins and Nathan Mullenger-McHugh were delisted while 2016 premiership players Clay Smith and Shane Biggs announced retirements.
Free agents Luke Dahlhaus, Mitch Wallis and Jordan Roughead have received interest from rival clubs ahead of a busy off-season at Whitten Oval.
Dahlhaus has headed away on holidays to contemplate a long-term deal from Geelong, while Wallis is weighing up offers from Brisbane and Essendon.
Jordan Roughead last week flew to Perth to meet with the Eagles as they look to fill the void left by injured ruckman Nic Naitanui for 2019.
Fellow free agent Tom Liberatore is expected to re-sign with the club.
