The Victorian Government and the AFL have announced that AAMI Park will host an official Live Site for this weekend’s Grand Final Replay on Saturday 2nd October, with gates open at midday.
The free event is capable of accommodating up to 30,000 fans from both St Kilda and Collingwood, and is the perfect venue to soak up all the excitement of this historic AFL game.
Supporters will also be able to congratulate the winning team when they are presented on stage with the Premiership Cup after the final siren.
Sports Minister James Merlino today encouraged footy fans to celebrate the final day on the AFL calendar and join in the celebrations of the biggest game of the year at AAMI Park.
“The AFL Grand Final is the pinnacle of our world-class sporting calendar and Melbourne really comes alive in the final week of September - in this case, October,” Mr Merlino said.
“Last weekend we witnessed a truly epic grand final between Collingwood and St Kilda and this weekend promises to be another blockbuster.
“The replay is set to be another sell-out and for those who can’t get a ticket, our live site at AAMI Park - just a stone’s throw away from the MCG - promises to be the next best thing.
Mr Merlino continued; “There won’t be a bad seat in the house and the match will be broadcast live on giant screens, with a range of other live entertainment and festivities.”
“It will be a safe, family-friendly atmosphere complete with full catering and amenities.”
St Kilda supporters are also encouraged to watch the game from O’Donnell Gardens in the heart of St Kilda (next to Luna Park) with activities once again kicking off from 11am. Click here to view the PDF from the City of Port Phillip.
