NORTH Melbourne midfielder Trent Dumont will stand trial on one count of aggravated robbery in January next year.
At a special directions hearing on Wednesday, the District Court of South Australia set January 23, 2017, as the start date for the prosecution case against Dumont and a co-accused, with three to four days set aside for the hearing.
Dumont is alleged to have been involved in the robbery of a taxi driver following an incident in the early hours of Sunday, October 12, 2014, after two men were picked up by a cab on North Terrace in Adelaide.
North will not comment on Dumont's case while it remains before the court.
Dumont was drafted by North Melbourne with pick No.30 in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft after playing in Norwood’s SANFL premiership that year.
Since making his debut in round four, 2015, Dumont has played 10 AFL games, including North's past two matches.
