PORT Adelaide forward Jack Watts has returned to training ahead of schedule, while Brisbane recruit Sam Mayes has joined his new teammates for the first time.
Watts and Mayes were back a week earlier than required, training with the club's first-to-fourth-year players at Alberton Oval on Monday.
Watts had a minor operation on his right ankle at the end of the season but was involved in kicking drills and the warm-up with the main group.
Mayes was also busy in his first session with the Power since being acquired from the Lions along with pick five in the upcoming NAB AFL Draft, in exchange for pick six, 35 and a future third-round selection tied to Fremantle.
FULL FIXTURE Every round, every game
Watts has a point to prove after a disappointing first season with the Power.
The 27-year-old was down in a host of statistical categories – average disposals, kicks, handballs, marks, goals, goal assists, inside 50s, effective disposals, tackles inside 50, marks inside 50, metres gained and time on ground – compared to 2017 when he was at Melbourne.
His 14.1 disposals per game was his lowest return since 2010, his second season with the Demons.
Watts was dropped after the Power's round 12 win against Richmond but returned to the senior side four weeks later and held his spot for the rest of the season.
The No.1 overall pick in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft joined the Power in last year's trade period in exchange for pick 31.

Mayes is looking for a fresh start after playing only six games this year with the Lions.
The 24-year-old, the eighth overall pick in the 2012 national draft, can play a variety of roles, including half-back, wing or half-forward.
He played a total of 101 games in his six seasons with the Lions.
Hawthorn recruit Ryan Burton is yet to start training with the Power, the 21-year-old receiving a longer break after the Hawks reached the second week of the finals.
Midfielder Willem Drew was running laps as he builds up his conditioning after having surgery on his right heel in May.
