POTENTIAL MILESTONES
Lions defender Ash McGrath is set to play his 150th AFL match this Saturday afternoon when the Lions face Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium in Tasmania.

McGrath was recruited to the Lions from South Fremantle in Western Australia with Pick No.13 overall in the 2000 AFL National Draft.

He received an AFL Rising Star nomination back in 2003 following a career-best six goal haul against the Western Bulldogs, was a member of the Lions' 2003 Grand Final triumph and represented the Indigenous All-Stars in 2009.

The 27 year-old began his career as a small forward and was the team's second leading goal-scorer in 2005 when he kicked a career-best 35 goals from 21 games, but has more recently become one of the Lions' most valuable attacking defenders.

LAST TIME THEY MET
Reigning premiers Hawthorn hosted the Brisbane Lions at Launceston's Aurora Stadium in typically freezing Tassie conditions on the eve of the AFL's Split Round.

A tricky breeze and poor disposal efficiency kept the Lions to just three goals in the first half as the Hawks took a slender lead into the main break.

Captain Jonathan Brown sparked his team into action with consecutive goals in the third quarter before the Lions eventually steamrolled the Hawks with six unanswered goals in the final term.

Brown proved a colossus up forward with five goals while local Tassie hero Justin Sherman collected 29 disposals.

Brownlow Medal Votes: 3 - S. Black (BL), 2 - J. Brown (BL), 1 - J. Brennan (BL)

The Lions have a strong Tasmanian association with five current senior players hailing from the Apple Isle - Tom Collier (Lauderdale), Aaron Cornelius (Glenorchy), Ryan Harwood (Glenorchy), Bart McCulloch (South Launceston) and Justin Sherman (Clarence) - as well as 2010 coaching staff Adrian Fletcher, Jade Rawlings and Manny Lynch.

Last year's 42-point win over Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium was the Lions' first official victory on Tasmanian soil since the 1997 merger.

Lions midfielder Michael Rischitelli is set to line up for his 50th consecutive AFL match - the highest string of consecutive games held currently at the Club. Daniel Rich is ranked second having played 39 consecutive senior games since making his debut back in Round 1 of 2009.

There has been a stark contrast in the recent form guides of these two sides. Hawthorn have shot their way up the AFL ladder recently with seven wins from their past eight matches while the Lions have slipped to 12th having won just one of their past 11 matches.

Hawthorn forward Lance Franklin has booted a total of 20 goals in his past four matches against the Lions at an average of five goals per game.

Franklin has also polled six Brownlow Medal votes in his past three games against the Lions.
