TEASDALE, the first ruck in North Melbourne's Team of the Century, epitomises the famous Shinboner spirit. He joined the club he would go on to play 178 games for in 1956 and soon established a reputation as a fierce competitor who could run all day.

Teasdale was the Kangaroos' best and fairest player four years in succession between 1963 and 1966 and was awarded a retrospective Brownlow Medal long after his playing days were over after he lost the 1965 award on a countback to Ian Stewart.

He took to wearing a headguard in 1965 after a fearsome head clash had left him hospitalised the previous year, but his dogged determination and physical presence were in no way diminished.

Teasdale captained the Arden St club for three years towards the end of his career and had represented his state 19 times and garnered All-Australian honours in 1966 by the time he hung up the boots.
