IMPRESSIVE Adelaide backman Tom Doedee is the round two nominee for the NAB AFL Rising Star award.
Doedee collected 25 disposals and 11 intercept possessions in the Crows' Grand Final rematch victory against Richmond last Thursday.
Drafted with the No.17 selection in 2015, Doedee made his debut this year and has thrived filling the role left by Jake Lever, who has departed to Melbourne.
His courage, leap and ability to read the play make him one of the more exciting young talents in the game.
The 21-year-old was a shock selection when he was recruited in the first round.
He had pursued a basketball career as a junior and when Doedee was recruited from the Geelong Falcons ahead of South Australian Ryan Burton (who went to Hawthorn at No.19), it was seen as a controversial decision.
