GREATER Western Sydney has confirmed it has "a little bit" of interest in recruiting former Geelong ruckman Mark Blake.
Blake, who has played 99 AFL games for the Cats including the 2009 premiership, has not played senior football since 2010.
The 27-year-old spent this year with Mooroopna in the Goulburn Valley Football League, where he won the best and fairest.
With ruckman Jonathan Giles out-of-contract and a possibility of leaving, the Giants could be in the market for an experienced ruckman.
Free agent ruckman Will Minson, who has been linked to the Giants, is likely to remain at the Western Bulldogs, according to his manager Dan Richardson.
The Giants are yet to make a call on Blake, according to the Herald Sun, but football manager Graeme Allan confirmed that club had "a little bit" of interest in the ex-Cat.
Mooroopna coach Brad Campbell said Blake was continuing to train in the hope of winning a return to the AFL.
"He did tell me he was keen to do it (AFL) if the opportunity came about," Campbell said.
"I know he did enjoy his football this year, he's got his love back for the game to a degree.
"He did think it was gone (AFL career), but there's been a glimmer of hope and I think he's thrived on it."
