Geelong Cats have announced the appointment of Taylah Hassett as VFLW head coach for the 2025 rebel VFLW season.
Hassett has progressed through the Geelong football pathway, having served as co-coach of AFL Barwon Division 1 reigning premier Grovedale Tigers for the past two seasons.
She played with the Tigers and Colac Imperials and has also been involved in the Geelong Falcons program as a player and a coach, which includes coaching the Geelong team that participated in the V/Line Cup competition.
Hassett was also part of the Geelong Cats Women’s Football Coach Development Program in 2024.
She replaces Elise Coventry who coached the Cats for the past two seasons before making the decision to step down from the role to focus on her role as an assistant coach with Geelong’s AFLW team and her growing family commitments.
Geelong Cats Assistant General Manager – Football Brett Johnson said the club was excited to have Hassett join as VFLW head coach.
“Taylah has an impressive resume as player and coach, she is a young emerging leader in the community, and we believe her connection to AFL Barwon and the development pathways in the greater Geelong and Colac areas will be of great benefit to our program,” Johnson told geelongcats.com.au.
“The Club would also like to take the opportunity to thank Elise for her time leading our VFLW program for the past two seasons, in addition to the roles she has held with our AFLW program and Next Generation Academy.”
