EXPECT Collingwood to utilise newly-acquired former Geelong speedster Travis Varcoe in a slightly different manner in 2015.
That's the prediction of Collingwood list manager Derek Hine after the Magpies wrapped up their part of Wednesday's mega-trade that also saw North Melbourne's Levi Greenwood and Brisbane Lions' Jack Crisp join the Pies, as well as the No.5 selection at next month's NAB AFL Draft.
The Magpies lost star midfielder Dayne Beams and draft pick No.67 to the Lions for Beams and also traded Heritier Lumumba to Melbourne during a hectic day of movement.
"We will use Travis a bit more differently," Hine told NAB AFL Trade Radio.
"It will be more on the outside where he can use his wheels and give us some run."
Varcoe played 23 matches for Geelong last year and 130 overall and at just 26 years of age, has plenty to offer the Magpies.
Greenwood is coming off his best season with the Kangaroos, finishing third in the best and fairest and the Magpies hold high hopes his form will continue in his new colours.
"He found his niche this year and we feel he will be a multi-dimensional player for us. He'll have some run-with roles as well, with the injury to Brent Macaffer,” Hine said.
Hine said the Pies had made the best of the situation once it was clear Beams wanted to leave.

"We knew about the family situation but at the same time, it had to be a solid outcome for us and a win-win situation for everyone,” he said.
Attention at Collingwood now turns to the draft and the No.5 selection, which Hine said the Pies would only consider trading if a "serious player" became available.
"We're keen to go to the draft. This will be our fourth top-10 pick in the last two years,” he said.
Collingwood will consider using the pick on either a midfielder or a medium-sized forward.
"We will look at what fits the profile of the group," he said.
