Player Development Coach Steve Malaxos reviews the performances of Fremantle players who played in the WAFL at the weekend.

Ryan Murphy (South Fremantle) 11 kicks, 4 handpasses, 7 marks, 1 goal

Ryan worked hard but Andrew McCarrey restricted his influence. The delivery into the forward line was not as good as the week previous when Ryan kicked nine goals, which didn’t help South Fremantle’s cause.

Clayton Hinkley (Swan Districts) 8 kicks, 12 handpasses, 3 marks
Clayton did some good things with the ball and put in some good chases. He worked hard for three shots on goal but failed to capitalise. That was the only difference between a good game and a great game from Clayton.

Chris Smith (Swan Districts) 4 kicks, 3 handpasses, 3 marks

Chris played half back and on the wing. He offered good run and his kicks penetrated strongly into the attacking 50. He played on Daniel Rich at times and defended him well.

Ryley Dunn (East Fremantle) 5 kicks, 5 handpasses, 2 marks

Ryley moved around well as a forward and offered a strong option up forward for the Sharks.

Calib Mourish (East Fremantle) 5 kicks, 3 handpasses, 5 marks

His skill execution was commendable but had limited opportunities in the forward line when moved into the attacking 50

Des Headland (Subiaco) 12 kicks, 3 handpasses, 8 marks, 1 goal
Des’ use of the ball was excellent in his roles on the wing and across half forward. He was a very effective contributor for the Lions.

Brock O’Brien (Peel) 12 kicks, 3 handpasses, 9 marks, 2 goals
Brock was terrific early with two goals in the second quarter from the wing. He continued to play on with an injured wrist in a gallant effort for the Thunder.

Brent Connelly (Perth) 6 kicks, 1 handpass, 3 marks, 1 goal, 10 hit outs
Brent spent half the game in the ruck and as a forward. His taps in the ruck were good, as were his disposal but his opportunities up forward were limited
