HAWTHORN vice-captain Jordan Lewis is set to finish his career as a one-club player after signing a new contract extension.
The 28-year-old was due to come out of contract at the end of next season, but has decided to re-sign with the Hawks for a further two years, keeping him at the club until at least the end of season 2017.
The contract renewal is a welcome boost for the Hawks, just six days out from the club's preliminary final clash against Port Adelaide at the MCG.
"I'm very happy to sign," Lewis told Channel Nine's Sunday Footy Show.
"It looks like I'll be a Hawthorn player for life."
Lewis has been in career best form in season 2014.
The premiership midfielder is averaging just under 28 disposals per game, and is the Hawks' No.1 ranked player for contested possessions, effective disposals and clearances.
Lewis said the club was excited to be involved in yet another preliminary final, and confirmed forward Cyril Rioli had been training well as he attempts to prove his fitness ahead of Saturday's clash against the Power.
Rioli, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since round 15, will step up to full skill training this week, before a decision is made on whether or not he will play.
"The medical staff have a really big decision to make," Lewis said.
"In all honesty, they won't play him if he's not right. We'd obviously love to have him out there, but if he's not right, he's not right."
