Steve Morris, Richmond, has been charged with a level two engaging in rough conduct offence (225 demerit points, two-match sanction) for engaging in rough conduct against Jamie Elliott, Collingwood, during the second quarter of the round four match between Richmond and Collingwood, played at the MCG on Saturday April 20, 2013.

In summary, he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Collingwood Football Club, the incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), medium impact (two points) and high contact (two points). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a level two offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 168.75 points and a one-match sanction.

Tom Bellchambers, Essendon, has been charged with a second offence for engaging in a melee ($2800 sanction) during the half-time break of the round four match between Essendon and St Kilda, played at Etihad Stadium on Saturday April 20, 2013.

Pearce Hanley, Brisbane Lions, has been charged with a level two striking offence (125 demerit points, one-match sanction) for striking Lindsay Thomas, North Melbourne, during the third quarter of the round four match between the Brisbane Lions and North Melbourne, played at Etihad Stadium on Sunday April 21, 2013.

In summary, due to his previous poor record, his one-match sanction must remain at one match, even with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the North Melbourne Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a level one offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing bad record of 93.75 demerit points carried over within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 218.75 points and a two-match sanction. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 168.06 points and a one-match sanction.

Other incidents assessed:
The match day report against North Melbourne's Drew Petrie for charging the Brisbane Lions' Rohan Bewick during the second quarter of Sunday's match was assessed. The panel said the ball was kicked by a North Melbourne player to the leading Petrie. Bewick comes back to intercept a potential mark. Petrie has left the ground in a bid to mark the ball and has his arms up to mark when contact is made. Bewick makes contact with the ball as the collision between the players occurs in mid air. After viewing all available footage and speaking to the umpire who laid the report on the day, it was the view of the panel that Petrie was making a legitimate attempt to mark the ball. No further action was taken.

Contact between West Coast's Eric Mackenzie and Carlton's Marc Murphy from the second quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. The ball was at a stop-play situation after a behind had been scored. As the players were preparing to set up for the kick-in, Murphy and Mackenzie were jostling for position. Mackenzie attempted to block Murphy's path to reach West Coast's Daniel Kerr and made high contact. A free kick was paid at the time to Murphy and it was the view of the panel that Mackenzie's action was not a striking motion. No further action was taken.

Contact between St Kilda's Ahmed Saad and Essendon's Courtenay Dempsey from the fourth quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. It was the view of the panel the force used was below that required to constituted a reportable offence.
