While the Eagles have previously been linked to Yeo and Ellis, it emerged on Monday that Carlton was open to trading contracted defender Bootsma to West Coast if a suitable deal could be struck.
It is understood the Eagles are the only club Bootsma will consider being traded to and Fremantle has no inclination to enter the race.
Meanwhile, the Dockers conducted fitness tests on Ellis last week, but he now appears destined for West Coast if offered a contract to continue his career under Simpson, who worked with the 25-year-old at Hawthorn.
AFL.com.au understands Fremantle chose not to pursue Ellis after the wingman's testing in Perth.
Yeo has been offered a three-year deal to join West Coast and appears to be the club's first priority in trade talks.
However, the Eagles are yet to increase their offer of pick No.40, which the Brisbane Lions have deemed insufficient.
Fremantle remains interested in Yeo but is seen to be behind West Coast in the race.
The Dockers are continuing to explore trade options for Josh Mellington, who has requested a move home to Victoria after three years with Fremantle.
The 20-year-old's priority is to get to a Victorian club, with a number of parties showing interest. It is believed one interstate club has also enquired.
Mellington is contracted for one more season, complicating his move, but Fremantle has expressed its willingness to help the young forward find a new home.
The Dockers also appear resigned to losing young midfielder Viv Michie, who is keen to join Melbourne after three years with Fremantle.
Essendon forward Scott Gumbleton has completed medical testing with Fremantle in Perth, but a move to play under Ross Lyon is not guaranteed.
It is understood the Dockers are still assessing Gumbleton's results and are yet to commit to trading for him.
It has been suggested Fremantle could trade selection No.33 in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft for Gumbleton, but the 25-year-old's manager, Paul Connors, described that as "a bit generous".
Meanwhile at Essendon, goalkicker Stewart Crameri is still attempting to move to the Western Bulldogs, who have offered the Bombers their pick No.22.
Essendon, however, believes the 25-year-old is worth more than that second-round selection.
The Sydney Swans and Collingwood are in regular contact as Jesse White seeks a move to the Magpies, with an exchange of picks likely to make that deal happen.
Talks between Greater Western Sydney and St Kilda over defender Josh Bruce, however, have been less productive.
Bruce's manager Ben Williams of Players Ink, told Gillette AFL Trade Radio that "GWS want to get quite a lot for their player, and the Saints don't want to give up a lot."
